Does the US benefit by supporting Israel?

This isn't a troll..  I seriously don't know.  It seems in supporting Israel, the US gains nothing but dozens of enemies.  Also Israel spies on the US and sells US technology to other contries.  Also this isn't about Jews, just Israel.

I suppose another factor is that the Israelis permit a full US military presence on Israeli soil, whereas the most tolerant arab countries will only allow a temporary and limited presence.
