Of the US, living or dead who would you pick? Let's assume if they are dead they'd have a couple years to catch up with the modern world.
I vote Thomas Jefferson.

I vote Christopher Walken, for the living, he might not have any political experience, but damned if he couldn't force any bill into passing or solve any foriegn policy by just staring at his opponents until they feel creeped out and hide.
Assuming we're acutally bringing the dead back to life, not making the dead president after letting their putrified corpses acclimate to modern microorganisms, I say we would need Richard Nixon, back before he was old and paranoid to the point of criminal action. He was smart, educated, tactful and well-spoken, would be able to reverse our foriegn policy errors, and God help you if you got in his way.
Also, for the sake of stopping further arguing, Stalin wasn't a socialist, and barely a communist. Socialism is intrinsically flawed by virtue of the fact that it calls for a forcefully egalitarian society, but with leaders with more power than the common citizen, therefore: paradox. Communism is an economic model that has only been enacted by military-backed despots, and fails mostly due to human error thanks to a lack of automatic checks and balaces, such as the Invisible Hand Theory.
