The purpose of welfare is to help disenfranchised individuals get back on their feet, perhaps it is a broken system, but I would want to see a legitimate study showing such before getting rid of the system all together. There are always assholes who see things as a free ride and take advantage of the situation, no matter what it is. just because a certain percentage abuses of the program, might it be more appropriate to create more rigorous restrictions/regulation first before ending the program as a whole?

well some aspects of social security may be outdated, when your geriatric and frail and such, the Medicare part of the social security program will pay some of the expenses of such things as  canes and wheelchairs  with medicare however the largest problem with it is need for reform to adress the problem of medicare fraud and the fact that mecial services and prescription drug prices are so ridiculously high

Welfare should be replaced with private charity.  This doesn't mean no programs would exist.  Rather, it means said programs would be handled by private individuals.

That's the point dumbass. It's in the hands of the government. Considerring how much demand there is for cheap labour businesses would be trampling over each other to give homeless people food and shelter so they can work picking fruit or cleaning car parks etc etc.. Because the government foots the bill and then some, but does fuck all to actually let them participate in the market economy (which is an unequivocal act of oppression) they remain homeless, alone and skill-less.

We need welfare done properly, ie. not done by the government.

Exactly.  Private entities and charity will do just that.  Abolish welfare, let people keep more of what they earn, and let private charities handle any welfare services.

Its not my job to take care of the fucking morons who can't think ahead. You need to take care of yourself, not some corporation or the government. It's nice to work but you really need to invest your money and become financially independent.
I really dont understand why I should be paying for morons who can't wipe their own ass. If the homeless/retarded need money there are plenty of places you can donate your money.
