First of all, you know fucking nothing about African history. They had many large cities, civilizations, and empires. The Aztecs had llamas which substituted for horses, among many other domestic animals. Africa had 0, zero domestic animals. All of Northern Africa had civilization with contact with the outside world, not just the horn. Got conquered by the greeks and romans a few times. The agriculture in Africa just plain sucks, it is not comparable to Latin America's in the least. They could not grow wheat or any other sort of essential versatile crop, whereas the indigenous Americans had corn. They were used as a slave source for thousands of years. There were dozens and dozens of factors working against the Africans, and the only way they could survive was to remain largely tribal and hunter-gatherer, which stopped most innovation that came about because in agricultural societies people had lots of free time, hunter-gatherers did not.
