Some of the most vain, stupid and most cynical comments I've ever seen here. What I know is that Koreans do NOT normally imitate Japanese or Chinese. It is true that in the past, impoverished South Korea bench marked Japan for industrial growth. But why would Koreans imitate Chinese and for what? Please be objective and specify. When you look at young Koreans abroad or inside South Korea, you could tell right away that they dress up differently from Japanese and their hair style is also very different from Japanese counterparts. Many South Korean young people do not even watch Japanese entertainments (except Manga) due to their own full fledged domestic entertainment industry which is HUGE!!! I find that it is rather many Taiwanese Chinese who seem to imitate and want to be like Japanese in the supposedly "superior" Japanese culture. The Taiwanese girls try hard to look like Japanese girl and some even say that Japan should have been succeeded in completely annexing Taiwan during WW2. I personally think that some Koreans are dumb and loathsome. But I have strong disagreement on the rashly made comments here that Koreans either copy Chinese (I don't understand why anyone would like to copy Chinese nowadays and on what?) or Japanese (Koreans hate very much anything to do with the past's intertwined commonality with the Japanese) although Korean and Japanese languages both being NON-tonal language & belonging to Uralic/Altaic language group which include Turkish,Mongolian,Finish,Hungarian, Korean,Japanese etc.- but some linguists make separate category of 'Japanese Korean' language group due to their staggering similarity.- interestingly Chinese language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language group and is a system of the TONAL language. Both Korean and Japanese academia or researchers or archaeologists have been normally silent and have taboos on the shared past history such as pertaining to the kinsmen blood shared b/w each other along the anthropological frame of history. Even my wife from Daegu of Korea (close to the south eastern tip of Korean peninsula) whom most people think she is Japanese in appearance gets very much offended when she is told that Koreans and Japanese share some secret history. Without a doubt, inferiority complex ridden Koreans DO NOT want to hear anything that has to do with sharing our own genetic make up with the next door neighbor. And the snubbing Japanese hate to be identified with the 'rude, crude, inferior' Koreans! Many Koreans can NOT even name a few Japanese celebrities whereas many Japanese young people seem to know more on the Korean K-pop stars. Believe me, there is a paradigm shift going on in East Asia as far as the pop-cultures are concerned and the copy cat accusation in some of the comments here will be judged by many as just personally biased uneducated comments against a certain race due to his or her past hurtful experience. Those hateful comments seem to be so pathetic and not credible to believe. I don't understand why would any country, let alone Korea, wants to copy the cheap Chinese (I'm sorry for this expression) or Japanese (Koreans have no interests in "Jap"-I'm sorry for this expression as well) when the stupid Koreans have enough of their own to enjoy.
