Poor people deserve it

Poor people are generally very stupid and ugly, which is the cause, not the consequence of their economic status. Capitalist socities are for the most part meritocracies, and while a few poor people with brain and brawn dare to rise above their station and are welcome among the Free Men, most seem to prefer to wallow in their misery and blame the successful, rich, smart and beautiful for their mishaps.

This is why I am firmly against socialism, where everyone is equally poor.

I am a capitalist and also disagree strongly.  Yes, some poor people have managed to scrape out an existence on their own, but this doesn't mean we should ignore all the poor who have not.  We should help the poor better themselves as this can only do good for society.  Realize I mean helping them as individuals, as communities.  Not government.  This is why rich philanthropists such as Bill Gates give as much as they do.  They realize that helping out the poorer people is beneficial.

Capitalism isn't about competition, it's about each person persuing their own interests.  And sometimes your own interests is in helping others.
