Fighting for your life, huh. The strategy behind the bombings was to make the Germans suffer so they would turn against Hitler, which didn't happen since they couldn't worry about that shit in their rubble cities. Strategic merit = none, safe for destroyed factories in _some_ of the cities that had been bombed.
