There is a difference between those who harm people out of need and those who do so out of some supernatural motivation. I'll put it this way - I'll allow them whatever they MUST do to defend themselves, but if they go into excess violence or harm people unneccesarily I won't be upset if they get struck back. If I elect a government that uses assault against a child I deserve to be turned into a 3-D jigsaw puzzle by that child's uncle.
