Sure big US cities would be totally devastated(good riddance), but in that case US would launch it's full arsenal which would mean china goes into stone age, seismic shock would be felt around world, chinese and near countries receiv really nice dose of radiation, awesome fireworks, nice amount of smoke from burnin ruins, possible nuclear "winter" although that theory isn't exactly proven. Now when you think it would be awesome little apocalypse, but those goddam comm..err Russians would be left without a scratch and sadly we don't have that many nukes to nuke both Russia and China effectively.

The PRC has at most 50 DF-5 ICBMs currently deployed throughout the country. These and a handful of Submarine launched missiles are the only weapons in china that could reach the United States and do any meaninful damage. The People's Liberation Army Airforce's bomber squadrons are leftovers from the cold war and have been obsolete since the fall of the Berlin wall. And plus China has no functional aircraft carriers. The closest thing they have is the Varyang, which is barely worth the scrap iron its made of.
