For a while a majority all almost every race believed that it was accepatable to have slaves(i guess all but the slaves). In ancient rome a slave that buys his freedom or wins it from his owner would quite often be given a slave as a gift from said owner, to show that the free slave was truely a citizen in his own right and has all the rights contained therein. And at this period of time almost every race around had slaves. native american populations in modern mexico and south had many inner tribal wars in order to capture slaves and human sacrafices, all the same race as them, Africa also had almost constant tribal warfare for slaves, most of which were black but they weren't particualar about race. Ancient rome and Greece weren't paticular about what race that they had slaves of, having slaves of almost any race, making it fairly difficult to determine who was a slave and who wasn't just by walking down the street and looking at people. Asia also had an abundance of slaves of whatever race was handy. Actually the slavery of a race in order to justify racial predgedious is comaritivly a modern idea when compared to slavery itself.
