They share a multitude of genetic and cultural traits. In fact, white people, in general, share a common religion or rather have their background in a certain religion, and no it isn't Christianity. What is it? The values set down that started in Greece and Rome; this idea of there being some things called 'truth' and 'logic' (logic being formalized.)
You can be even be 'jewish' but not observe the religion. So, if there is no such thing as white there is definately no such thing as jewish ethnicity. In the same way, you don't have to preach white values to be white. So, you obviously have a problem. You either there are no races or there exists a white race.

If judaism is "just a religion" then how do you explain there being jews who practice other religions than judaism, or are atheist, yet still stand for jewish racial interest. The idea of a 'chosen people' is one that is racial in nature. In order to be jewish, you don't have to practice judaism, your mother has to be jewish. And your mother doesn't even have to practice judaism.
