US vs non-US Education systems

How are non-US education systems superior or inferior to US education systems?  I heard that Japan actually teaches their students how to draw well, rather than cut and paste construction paper all day.

the chinese go to 6 days of school, 2-3 hours longer every day, study history of every major culture, forced to do military standard phys ed practices, and have university material crammed down their throats in high school
