Unless you are FULL BLOODED native American, your own spanish ancestors stole the land of the natives and slaughtered them in the process. Mexico's and Canada's history is a bloody as the US, all of north and central America is on stolen land, so lets not get into technicalities about who stole from who, because go back far enough and the Spanish were just as evil.

immigrants from other countrys in the last two centurys had to build houses, and live in racially segragated communitys, and they eventually formed a culture of relative tolerance and prosparity. Now look at mexican imigrants, who have plenty of oppurtunitys.

I support heavy legal immigration and amnesty mostly because I think the influx of labor will give our economy a major boost in the long run, and lets face it, people ARE power.
However, we do need to step up our border control to prevent crime.
As the image in this PDF will show you, legal immigration is far more difficult than it may seem.
Every legal immigration process takes between six and twenty-eight years to become a citizen, and unless you have legal family inside the United States or are very wealthy, you typically don't have a window at all. Otherwise, you're basically taking the flip of a coin, because green cards are capped well below the available demand.
So before you say "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SHOULD JUST GET IN LINE!", you should think about why we have so much illegal immigration in the first place; it's because the legal process is tedious and often impossible for most people.

Just because we need to restructure the line doesn't mean getting out of it or going around it should be permitted. You can't break into heaven but it's easy to get into a hell. So when I say "illegal immigrants should get back into line" I do mean they should get back into line; when I say "the government should rescale an inconvenient process" then I mean the government should make shorter a process filled with unnecessary delay and wait.
Seriously, both sides should just shut up about what little tweaks they want and just - if they can't agree on new systems - reduced the run time of the existing system.
