Well, here is the grand plan of whu tzao mao tung lo hung ting tao in all it's glory.

1: Invent stamps and paper money.
2: Get conquerred and ass fucked by mongols and europeans for 700 years.
3: Become communist.
4: Starve enmass.
5: Realise communism doesn't work and become capitalist.
6: Burn off the world's crude oil.
7: Starve enmass.
8: Go back to pre-industrial levels of civilisation.
9: ???
10: Profit.

You forgot about killing all those Tibetans, practically just for the hell of it, and in the process pissing off most of the civilized world.

But their food is great (but a little too heavy with all that sauce), and they also contributed gunpowder to the world (whether this is a benefit or a bane to society is up to the viewer).  Their medicines are also suprisingly effective (from a rather Euro-centric point of view, as they probably say the same about Western medicine), acting as a natural alternative that works just as well in many cases as many forms of Western medicine.
