You are wildly underestimating how religious the Puritans were if you think they'd feel at home in the mainstream segment of any American city.

And while you are correct that many texts written by Puritan authors did emphasize truth, all contemporary accounts emphasize repeatedly that Puritans were just as corrupt, stupid, jealous, and dissembling as the rest of us.
