It seemed that he had eyes-and hands-only for Irina Shayk, the stunning Russian lingerie model.
Those years of "bliss" have now been shattered, or so it seems, with Real Madrid superstar walking into a media storm.
In an explosive interview with UK newspaper The Sun, Andressa Urach, 27, a Brazilian bombshell dubbed Miss BumBum, gushed about how she had a rollicking time in bed with the Portuguese winger in a plush Madrid hotel.
She was the runner-up in a competition last December to select the best posterior in Brazil.
She told The Sun that Ronaldo, 28, claimed he had dreamt about her rear and called her "little horse".
"He was obsessed with my butt." Urach said, adding: "It was incredible, his body's perfect, like a Greek god. He went on for hours and would not stop talking about my butt."
Ronaldo, however, has gone on Twitter to deny that he had a fling with the model.
The report said Ronaldo, a football role model and an ambassador for Save the Children, began messaging Urach after he got her number from a mutual friend last month.
His simple messages became more saucy and they began to talk on Skype.
She said: "I have always thought Cristiano is one of the most gorgeous men in the world, so I couldn't believe it when he got in touch with me."
"He said he was very excited by my pictures online and one of the first things he asked was if I really was a Miss Butt Brazil model.
"He knows Brazilian women have some of the best butts in the world, so he was very impressed by that. We exchanged texts and spoke a few times. He wouldn't stop making comments about my butt."

Urach added: "He wanted to know if it was all natural which, of course, it is."
After days of messaging and talking, Ronaldo asked whether they could meet up in Madrid, without telling her where or when.
"He said he had to be careful because if it came out that he'd seen me, his girlfriend wouldn't be happy." The Sun quoted her as saying.
"They are together, but he told me the relationship wasn't serious. He didn't say anything else about her."
She claimed that they finally met last Monday at Madrid's Villa Magna hotel, where suite cost about 14,700 euros a night.
She took a taxi there and waited in the lobby for him. But he didn't meet her at the lobby. He took a private elevator to the sixth floor. Soon, she got a message from him telling her the room number.
When she got there, she said: "We looked at each other and, just like that, we were all over each other. He is fantastic. It was incredible - the best time of my life.
"His body is perfect, like something from the gods. He is so ripped - there isn't an ounce of fat on his body. I can barely believe it. I have never been with anyone like him."
Urach told The Sun: "He smelled like heaven and kept going for hours. And, yes, he was very 'gifted'. He could not stop talking about my butt. He was obessed."
Then came the letdown. Tryst over, he told her to wait in a public area of the hotel before messaging her that he had to leave. She said she was annoyed with him.
And just as she walked out of the hotel for a cigarette, a hoel security guard grabbed her and pulled her inside, saying that photographers were outside.
Said Urach: "Cristiano then texted again, he told me to go back up to the room as he had something to tell me. I was confused but went up. He wasn't there. Two security guys from the hotel arrived and he called me, saying press were outside and I had to stay in the room."
After the wonderful time "with a great lover" like Ronaldo, she said she was upset because she was being treated like an object, "like a prisoner".
"I even had guards outside," she said.
Urach claimed she was then taken in a private elevator, bundled into a hotel car and driven back to her hotel.
Describing the incident as something from a movie, she said: "I had been on Cloud Nine, but this was really upsetting. I know he is paranoid, but I felt like he was just trying to look after his own neck.
"It wasn't very comfortable for me and it was quite offensive. I don't think I'll be seeing him again."

Meanwhile, the former Manchester United star vehemently denied the model's story.
He wrote on his official Twitter page: "I was informed that The Sun, faithful to its editorial line, will publish an article where it has given voice to a so-called Andressa.
"Someone seeking the limelight on my account. And I wonder why this happens one day before a very important game for my team (referring to the Champions League semi-final leg against Borussia Dortmund)."
"Deeply outraged by a situation intended, in vain, to affect my personal life, I just want to clarify... I was in fact at the Hotel Villa Magna on April 22 giving an interview to Manu Sainz, something the reporter himself is able to corroborate. Everything else is pure fiction and forgery."
