MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Najib Razak will not attend a summit of South-east Asian leaders next week in Brunei to focus on campaigning for Malaysia's general election on May 5, his office said yesterday.
A spokesman in the Prime Minister's Office told AFP: "Prime Minister Najib is not going to Brunei. It is to allow him to concentrate on the general election."
Malaysian Senate President Abu Zahar Ujang will attend the summit in his place.
The annual summit of the 10-member Association of South-east Nations (ASEAN) will be from April 24 to April 25 this year. -AFP.
