Airports are terrible.

I worked at an airport for 3 years, #1 is amazingly true. Even in the best of times, many people turn from
rational human beings to confused angry primates the second they enter an airport. One time there was
a blizzard over most of the East Coast; there was around 2 feet of snow on the runway so pretty much
every flight was fucked. Nearly every stranded passenger seemed to be under the impression that my
fellow employees and I were a cult of Snow Wizards who had created this massive blizzard for the sole
purpose of ruining their travel plans.
One middle aged lady actually confronted me, demanding to know why I (as in me personally, not the
weather, the FAA, or even the company) had canceled her flight. My supervisor was nearby and he
stepped in, saying, "Sorry about that, ma'am. He's new here and he left the snow machine on a little
too long."

One time, all the flights were delayed (a volcano made eruption some weeks before about 1500 miles
from the airport). The crowd went crazy and, when they were about to destroy all the business in the
 airport (they were tearing apart some tables in a cafe), Cindy Lauper step out of the crowd and
started singing "True Colors" to calm them down (she had a concert in the city). People started to listen
 and stopped trashing the place. UNREAL DUDE.

Airport employees really do see the worst of people. We once had a woman trip over her bag while she
was coming through security and knock herself out hitting her head on a table. She was lying there on
the floor bleeding, and other passengers were actually angry at me when I shut the lane down and told
them to use one of the other three. They angrily pointed out that if I just dragged her bleeding, unconcious
 body off to the side I could reopen the lane for them. To make it better, one man actually cussed out
the paramedics when they got there, because they were taking too long checking her vitals and getting
 her on the stretcher.

But you're wrong. It's almost always free depending on where you are (try the starbucks/McFags/etc..?). It's NEVER free during the flight, though.
