War vs. Libya illegal

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has just inadvertently made the case for President Obama's impeachment. On ABC's This Week, Jake Tapper asked Gates, "Do you think Libya posed an actual or imminent threat to the United States?" Gates responded, "No, no. It was not, it was not a vital national interest to the United States."

Biden said, during President Bush's administration, he'd move to impeach any President who puts the United States military against a country without a priori country-personal justification (their attacking first, for example).

But the Libya intervention had a UN mandate therefore it cannot be illegal.

What does the UN have to do with the US constitution?

Forgive me, for I am not familiar with the US constitution. Does it say you can't attack another country if it does not pose a threat ?

if we can be legal enough for states rights we can be legal enough for human rights

The U.S. Constitution states that all treaties are law and to be obeyed... thus making a U.N. mandate, however P.O.S. they may be, legal and valid.

This is the main reason that the U.S. rejected Kyoto and the ICJ. Signing on would make it law and the government must comply.

Where is the UN mandate for all nations to attack Libya?  When was this resolution passed?
