Californians: Say NO to Legalizing Pot

Name: Anonymous 2010-08-17 15:05

http://www.theladiesmonthly.com/2010/08/californians-say-no-to-legalizing-pot/
In California we are at the apex of a vital moment in history.  This November, Californians will decide whether to promote justice and civility, or turn the state into a Mexico of the North.  If Proposition 19 passes, marijuana will become as available to anyone, including your children, as alcohol or cigarettes. Not only that, self-righteous pot smokers will be invading the streets to blow smoke in the faces of everyone who wanted to continue living in a just, verdant, and peaceful world. Legalization would mean the end of life as we know it in California. You can make a difference, vote NO on prop 19! In case I haven’t convinced you yet, here are some reasons why marijuana legalization would threaten your life and the innocence of your children:

Delicious internet satirists. I'm calling this one a Poe.

California is a failed state anyway, so I don't care what happens.

Article by Anne Thrope...Miss Anne Thrope

Misanthrope.

I'd criticise her for being painfully obvious in her delivery, but it looks like there are still people dumb enough to believe her half-arsed psuedo-satire.

Silly Americans, the federal government has banned it and California is a puppet of the puppet master. It doesn't matter what you vote because the result will appear that it has failed.

Good news everyone! September 11th has officially been declared burn your religious garbage day! Bibles, torahs, crosses, qurans, prayer rugs, Books of Mormon, Shinto idols, buddah statues, Yoga Mats and Al Gore's inconvenient truth, all into the bonfire it goes!

Why hasn't Richard Dawkins sounded off on this yet?

That was some funny shit.  I don't believe that you are actully that retarded but just in case I'll help you out.

Firstly.. Proposition 19 WILL PASS!  :D

Then its only a matter of time before others follow Cali's lead.  You talk about living in a "just" & "peaceful" world?  WTF what fuckin planet do you live on?

The only people who are against Prop 19 are drug dealers who will be out of work and ill-educated morons such as yourself.

Oh and btw, your children have more access to pot right now than they would if it was legalised.  Lastly... You may like living in a world where the government tells you what you can eat, drink, smoke etc but freedom loving people do not!  so please do the human race a favour and die... please!

Prohibition = FAIL

It just doesn't work.  Haven't you goofballs in the US figured that out, even after your alcohol banning years?

Apparently not.

Your argument is flawed.  We also have laws against rape and murder, yet rape and murder take place despite laws prohibiting them.  I do not think this justifies repealing the laws against them, do you?

Your argument presupposes that use of this drug is bad in and of itself, more so than other drugs that are accepted and legal for historical reasons.

I think a more cogent and coherent argument is to begin with the premise that people own themselves and their own brain cells, and therefore have every moral right to do whatever they want to themselves so long as they do not harm others.  From this perspective the power of the state is not constructively used against people who choose to use drugs, and under the social contract the state is obligated to leave such people alone unless and until a clear and present danger exists of harm to others.

Drug money funds organized crime, which deals in murder and rape.

Experts on the subject favour something called "harm reduction". The idea is that by legalizing and taxing cannabis you take the money from the criminals and directly invest it in fighting the causes of drug abuse.

The researching authority on drugs in the EU published 700 pages concluding that cannabis as a susbtance is less harmful than both tobacco and alcohol, and that all the serious problems associated with it comes from dealing with the black market.

I wish the oppositon to legalizing pot would meet us in rational debate, instead of this 1960's style fear mongering. In direct rebuttal to the OP, it's easier for childern to get a hold of pot than alcohol or tobacco, because drug dealers don't check for ID.

You are fucking retarded. No one wants murder and rape. That isn't the same for cannabis.

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-20 23:49

Legalizing pot means paying tax for it, having it regulated AND making it easily available to undeserving idiots. Better to keep it underground.
