you're probably right, more robust economy, active counter-unionism by the government, civil politics, booming free markets, everything. They are a real player on the world stage. At best, we have a wish-washy manufacturing sector that's internationalised -- in case of war, we have few plants ready for bombs and shells and stuff (good luck offshoring that!) and we have zip. In fact a war would totally devastate our economy. And having an uneducated pug conservative in the white house isn't going to help America's chances of survival.

Who has the right to tell the Japanese not to hunt whales which has been going on for centuries and is a part of their culture. I do not see anything different of this then men slaughtering pigs and cattle for food. mind you pigs are extremely intelligent animals.
