Well, she wrote her diary, but she only thought of publishing it when someone talked on the radio about collecting "wartime" diaries (from England). It was at this point that Anne decided to make a second draft of her diary, with names changed, ideas straightened out, etc. As for "knowing she would die", well, we've all gotta go sometimes, but she at least hoped to survive the war and talked in the diary about what the first thing she (and her household'd do when the war was over. (I think she was pining for a good bath, but I'll have to read that again.) As for "making a lot of money for her inheritance", what inheritance? She didn't have kids. (After Anne died and Otto came back, Otto - Anne's dad - made further edits to what would be the first published version of Anne's diary. Some of those edits have been redacted in subsequent editions, and critical editions have been published to show what Anne actually wrote. It was a bit messier and had more trivia and minituae, and less formal than the original published edition (not as much of "Dear Kitty" and "Yours, Anne").
