David Radler is a cheap bastard

David Radler, who ran Chicago Sun-Times, was a notoriously cheap bastard who kept the escalators off to save money.

However, that made employees pissed off and put wear and tear on the elevators that were always getting broken, thereby not saving money.

He is now in the news as an embezzler testifying against a co-embezzler, Conrad Black.

They get things done where they work.  If the good ol' boys were playing less Oblivion and working more hours, they'd be up there too.  It's like most things - at the top you'll find people with real ability and charisma, and totally committed nutcases.
