A young Australian diplomat mauled by lions during a posting to Zimbabwe has returned home to Canberra after surgery in South Africa.
Gemma Huggins, 27, survived the lion safari attack after her boyfriend dragged her to safety after scaring the beasts away on March 4, News Ltd reports.
South African surgeons treated Ms Huggins for claw and bite injuries to her head, neck torso and legs before she arrived home last week.
It's understood several animals were involved in the attack during a visit to the Lion and Cheetah Park, near Harare.
