Sure, Saddam was tried in Iraq by Iraqis, but the question is if he had a fair trial or not. I say no.
Some of the "crimes" Saddam has commited were valid war strikes. What most of the world doesn't seem to know is that Saddam had been fighting warlords in Iraq for years.
Now, I'm not at all saying Saddam was a good guy. The only good thing he did for the Middle East was keep it stable. Now that he's out of power Iran is the major Islamic power in the region. They've been looking to expand for decades now and we've help deliver Iraq to them on a silver platter.
With Saddam out of power, all those old warlords in Iraq are now fighting for control of the nation. It is a civil war there (except in the US, where I live, where administration officials still deny Iraq is in a civil war).
Killing Saddam is a bad move, just about as bad as letting him off scott free. Either way, a bunch of people were going to be really pissed reguardless of the outcome of his trial. And did anyone really believe that Saddam would be found not guilty? Honestly, the trial was a farce. From day one of the trial Saddam was to be found guilty and executed. Anyone with half a brian knew that.
Let the Iraqi's kill Saddam. Saddam is willing to die, he said so himself. However, hanging him is the wrong way. Saddam said he wanted to die by firing squad, so he should die be firing squad. I wouldn't be at all shocked, however, if he is not put to death. Hell, they should bring him over to the States and give him a reality show. I'd watch it.
