Iran: 16-year-old girl hanged

The Iranian judge who had sentenced Atefeh to death was left unmoved as he personally put the noose around her neck and signalled to the crane driver.

Kicking and screaming, Atefeh was left dangling for 45 minutes from the arm of the crane.

Atefeh's crime? Offending public morality. She was found guilty of "acts incompatible with chastity" by having sex with an unmarried man, even though friends say Atefeh was in such a fragile mental state that she wasn't in a position to say no.

Iran usually does not execute minors, instead it puts them in prison and executes them when they turn 18.

These law existed back then in the Medieval Ages, when the whole world executed prostitutes and witches, and when all women were oppressed. Now whomever said that Iran is backwards is so fucking right! I live in Lebanon, and Shria Law is practiced here, but no such law as hanging 16 year olds or stoning to death are to be found. Although the reputation of a girl or a woman who practices adultry will go down the sewer, and her family would be angry at her for a couple of months. She just won't be executed! Or even prisoned!
