Donating for the Tsunami victims

The population of the United Kingdom is 60 million. I'm sure the vast majority of those 60 million people can afford to part with ten pounds. If 60 million people donate 10 pounds then that's 0.6 billion pounds collected, which at the current exchange rate is over a billion dollars.

The population of the United States is around 300 million. Again. most of those people can afford to part with ten dollars. If everyone in the US donates 10 dollars that would be 3 billion dollars total.

So our running total is now 4 billion dollars US

Canada's population is 32 million people. With every Canadian donating 10 Canadian dollars then that's 0.32 billion Canadian dollars, or at the current exchange rate, a quarter of a billion US dollars.

4.25 Billion US dollars.

Japan has a population exceeding 125 million people. A thousand yes is worth around about 10 US dollars, so a donation of 1000 yen from everyone in Japan would equate to 1 and a quarter billion dollars.

5 and a half billion dollars.

And so far our governments have donated a paltry few million here an there to the people of the countries devastated by the tsunami.

The figures clearly show that if we all pull our weight we can do far better than our governments have so far.

Sometimes I wish people would realize the benefits of philanthropy and mass humanity. There is hardly any compassion in this world, I think any opportunity to show some is a good one. And I know any kind of aid or love would be appreciated by anyone worth receiving it, least of all the current victims of the tsunami.

i just find it stupid that it takes such a tragedy for people so many people to donate to charity, when long before this there are people suffering in third world countries who barely recieve enough to live.

to those who are immature, fuck you, this is not something that is funny, and they are NOT all third worlders, especially those in indonesia.

what's sad is they talk about how when something big like this happens, lots of people will give money to the big organizations (Red Cross, etc.) and a lot of smaller charities really feel the pinch of reduced donations.

I really hope Tsunami hit your town and then see whether or not you'd rather be in Thailand or in your 1st world country. Eventhough we're from 3rd world, we see all human are equal and that's why all tourists were thankful that it happened in Thailand. People are people no matter who you are.  1st 2nd and 3rd worlders, we are all just little people in this little world.  All Governments official are the one who bias.  No governments in this world would give money for FREE.  Nothing comes for Free only to have a string attached.  Take USA for example.  The US governments have no money to give out..Why?  Because they are at war with themselves.  War over oil.  Spending 200billion so far to rape another country of their oil.  US in the eyes of the world are the richest country but don't have enough money to help people who are in need.  US tend to stick their nose in other people business when they are not welcome.  Now people are in needs of help, US responded, “we are helping, we are sending US troops to help”.  They don’t need more troops; they need doctors, social works and foods.  2 days of the Tsunami US government gave $4 millions, fives days into the crises the US up the money to $35 millions only to be laugh at by the whole world and then on 7th days they up it to $350 millions only to say it’s a credit line.  I live in US and I see lots of bias between the governments and the media.  Us Americans have been taking for a ride…our governments pull our nose and leading us to believe that Iraq have WMD…where?  I, the taxpayer, am still waiting to see proof of WMD.  Ok the point to this is believed in yourself and what you think is the right thing to do.  If you can spear $10 then to the victims then do it.  If you can’t then it’s ok.  We as American already have been taking for a ride.  Our Government already takes 25% to 35% of your hard earnings each paycheck to fund the second half ($200BILLIONS) of the war.  TOTAL of $400BILLONS.  Good luck!

There are lots of suffering people in South Asia. At least if you do not donate someting to helping those people
,showing some respect for the death would be nice.  If you all from rich country  believe in freedom , then you should
realize that everyone is equally the same since the day they were born. The only thing that separate between you and them are money , power , political
and opportunity in life.

You were all complain about a few pounds or few dollars which for you meaning nothing. But for those suffer one, these few dollars/pounds could
comfort their lives. I want to you to see in the angle of those victim and their familly victims.  Do you think when people suffering that much loosing everything
they ever own , loosing all people they ever known . Do you think a few dollars of your make them happy ?  No it doesn't.

But one thing for human live that better than those Animals is that we have live in society.  We have our life gone by day by day only because we know that
we are part of society and having someone care for us . (If you don't believe this try Lock yourself up  in the room with no TV no telephone
no connection or human contact.) So a few dollars or few pound or donation make sure that those suffer one have this feeling.

I just wanna say that a lot of people already death and nothing else we could do about it.
If you felt that you don't need to help that's fine (we got lots of people willing to help) But please at least respect those suffer one.
They may from the country that you think of it as poor and uncivilize or Slowing down your economy . But try to think of them as Human being just like you are.
