Donating for the Tsunami victims

Name: Anonymous 2005-01-03 16:37

The population of the United Kingdom is 60 million. I'm sure the vast majority of those 60 million people can afford to part with ten pounds. If 60 million people donate 10 pounds then that's 0.6 billion pounds collected, which at the current exchange rate is over a billion dollars.

The population of the United States is around 300 million. Again. most of those people can afford to part with ten dollars. If everyone in the US donates 10 dollars that would be 3 billion dollars total.

So our running total is now 4 billion dollars US

Canada's population is 32 million people. With every Canadian donating 10 Canadian dollars then that's 0.32 billion Canadian dollars, or at the current exchange rate, a quarter of a billion US dollars.

4.25 Billion US dollars.

Japan has a population exceeding 125 million people. A thousand yes is worth around about 10 US dollars, so a donation of 1000 yen from everyone in Japan would equate to 1 and a quarter billion dollars.

5 and a half billion dollars.

And so far our governments have donated a paltry few million here an there to the people of the countries devastated by the tsunami.

The figures clearly show that if we all pull our weight we can do far better than our governments have so far.

(Population figures taken from wikipedia.org, exchange rates from xe.com)

God, a bunch of rednecks in here. You people really need to travel more, ya rednecks.

FOr your narrow-minded information, India and Thailand denied foreign aid. Most American I met are nice, but you bastards are so uneducated-judging from how you answer these questions. Being born in America doesn't give you advantage of being elegant. Your minds are of rednecks. Where was your last foreign country visit, Canada or Mexico?

I am in Thailand. Our country can look after itself. We can take a good care of our affected people and foreigners. We always think that everyone is in the same world. Thanks you for the kindness of those who donated to help the Tsunami victims. PS: WE DO NOT WANT ANY PENNY FROM AN IDIOT #2.

The donator, especially UN or US Government have so many agreements to deal with their help in term of funding. Everything they give to all country hits by tsunami must have high return because I don't think they will invest without profit anyway. Just wait and see what and how they gonna do with all that country after the announcement of donation but still have no fund liquidated.

Hey Guys.. Especially for those who want to create a barrier between so-called 1st, 2nd and 3rd world. What will happen to your body after your death? Are you going to take all the wealth you earn here? What is the difference between you guys (1 world) and 3rd world? If you cut your fingure, will you get something else (other than blood)?. They all born in 3rd country, but they don't depend on others. Check your shirt, books, even check your canned food you eat... You all get from 3rd world. What will happen if you don't get those things (at cheaper price), you all will die of starvation, because you can not afford the stuffs made in your countries.
At least show some respect to the 3rd world people. They are not beggers. They are human beings like you. You have enough people hating you in this world, don't try to increase that number.

Should this topic be changed to DONATING FOR N0#2'S EDUCATION AND MANNERS? Living in his 1st world doesn't help him at all. His vision, knowledge, information and I believe also education are still null.

Come on, people, come, help this poor guy with blind eyes.

finally, some common sense.  My heart goes out to all of those individuals who suffered from the tsunami disaster - I personally donated $100 towards the cause, and hope that others will donate as well if possible.  If anyone reading this thread is from Indonesia or another country which suffered from this event, I urge you to realize that the people posting in this thread do not represent the entire United States.  My family and friends were devastated when they heard of this tragedy, and I myself burst into tears when I first heard the news... All Americans are not as heartless as those individuals who poke fun at death and destruction...

Considering from some of the radical opinions I've read here, I just can't believe that we're living within the same planet, the same world.  And it's even more difficult to believe that such people have grown up and been educated in the 1st world.

Actually, you guys are not different from us in the sense of mankind.  You were just lucky enough to be born in the 1st world.

Anyway, I don't take these rather-selfish opinions so serious.  Instead, I rather have a pity on those who wrote it.  Pity for the better chance they have been given in their live. They never take advantage of the chance they've got to widen their point of view nor broaden their mind.  It proves totally useless.

And I'm glad to be the citizen in one of the so-called 3rd world countries here.  Because, at least, it enables me to learn how to share and contribute to the others, the priceless lesson that some of you will never have a least opportunity to learn, in spite of all the money you've got.

I have nothing to preach here because it wouldn't make any difference to you guys, like the restless wind blowing against the mountain that would never change or be affected.

You wouldn't know how hard things go here except that you were born here, standing and witnessing the same experience as we do.

In your next life, you might be born here. Only then will you learn the true meaning of humanity.

I know that I don't belong here 'cuz I'm just a passer-by anyway. Probably neither you are.

But, well, at least I'm brave enough to state where I belong to and stand up for my country of origin, unlike someone hiding in a corner as anonymous, as if they were in their mother's cunt, waiting to ambush somebody else.

So I'm not gonna waste my time here uselessly from now on.  It's better taking an action than teaching a monkey how to behave.

Hope you'll be enlightened eventually, although it's gonna take eternity.

Hey, the only reason why Japan donated some 70 million dollars to the Tsunami victims is because they want to become a permanent member of the UN security council. Do you think they would actually care about people dying overseas when their own people are still suffering from a earthquake a few weeks ago???  Do you think they just paid 70 million dollars (the most any country paid at one time) just because they felt bad??? No, just like the Germans right after the Japanese, they are all paying just to become a UN security council member. The UN security council right now is: China, France, UK, US, and Russia. There is no Germany nor Japan in this list. Besides, why should Japan be paying the second most to supply UN funds when they are treated like dirt by things such as the "enemy clause" and not being on the security council? (The five major contributors to the U.N.'s regular budget are the United States, which pays 22 percent of the budget, Japan (19.5 percent), Germany (9.8 percent), France (6.5 percent) and Britain (5.5 percent).)

知ってる?多くの支援金の提供を表明している国は空支援金なんだよ。
実情は、多額の支援金を表明しておきながら
実際、少しにか被災国に払われていないんだよ。
国際的にも、多額な支援金を表明すれば聞こえがいいからね。
