Why is the image/mu/ obsessed with KPOP?

There is a KPOP thread all the time on the front page and I don't understand why. Is it some kind of private joke?

it's basically offtopic general but since they post with pictures of musicians they're able to get away with it. /mu/'s backlash at the janitors, i suppose you could say.

the music itself is not that bad though.
