bitrate detection

I have a bunch of CD-r's burned from mp3 that I want to rip and put on my ipod. a lot of these were burned years ago at lower bitrates(mostly 128-192 I suspect). is there a way I can determine the original bitrates of the files so I can rip them at their original bitrate? is there a program or something that can do this?
