Question about making Mashups

I am new to making mashups. And I was wondering can I switch the order of parts of songs in mashups. Meaning when I make a mashup can a change the order of a song to make a mashup flow well? Like playing the middle of a song at the end, and playing the beginning of a song in the middle.
