Ambient Drone/Soundscape

I'm looking for information on how to make soundscapes/ambient music much like this song by Oneohtrix Point Never: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJMjpX4Ck2o

To me, this sort of music hearkens thoughts of a post-apocalyptic landscape, or an endless plain of grass... Strange, new discoveries, realizations... etc. It's incredibly evocative in my mind and I'd like to make more in the same vein.

I'm using FL Studio with a MIDI-enabled keyboard connected to my PC.
