Me first.
Have been rehearsing with a "pro" band for 8 months, the last 3 months 4 nights a week, at least 5 hrs a day. Up until my recent birthday, singer has loved me and everything I did (not like that). Then it happened.
I gave the singer a suggestion.
We've been having difficulty with the guitarist because he doesn't practice our stuff and isn't really put himself into it. I suggested to bring him in more that the singer ought to stop telling him what to do (she stops him a lot and talks at him for about 10-20 minutes each time). I said this politely and with as much tact as I could muster as I've seen her tendency to freak out at any criticism, even from the producer who she has worked with for 6 years.
I get hella pissed due to her ensuing temper tantrum and onslaught of victimhood (she proclaimed the producer and I always blame her) and lose my cool. I toss the present she bought me earlier (local confections held in molded compartments) lightly into the chair next to me as I sit down. She screams more bullshit and I try to calm down. Words are exchanged, I storm out as I can feel myself getting more and more pissed. Leaving at that point was a much better than staying and saying horrible things.
Next two rehearsals are cancelled. I am now a "bad person" and the singer wants me gone, won't talk to me and is treating me the way I have seen her treat people she has confessed to despising before.
And we were just about to release our digital single.
tl;dr - WATB singer can't take any criticism, derails 8 months of hard work on 5 people's parts because of it, is shooting self in foot.
