Elephant riders may be my favourite album. To me it sounds like an elephant cavalry is bearing down on you. The guitars and Neils roar sound like an elephant trumpeting (lets not forget the actual trumpet on crackerjack). The drums sound like a stampede. It's full of cool jerky syncopations (which may not appeal to some I guess). The lyrics are great, and I love the way it starts kind of surreal but when the second half kicks in the album seems to be about settling down and living a domestic life (Neil Fallon makes this work). There are great funk and psychedellic touches to Clutches usual stoner rock. There is no bad song on this album, and it has my favourite bonus track of all time. Yeah, it may be my favourite album.
Elephant Riders>Pure Rock Fury>From Beale Street to Oblivion=Robot Hive:Exodus>Jam Room (This has some of their best songs, but also alot of filler)=Blast Tyrant>Transnational Speedway League=Strange Cousins from the West
I still don't have their s/t (downloading now) and I didn't rate their b-side and live albums.
