New Song, "The Id"

Name: Count+Step 2009-11-26 0:43

I posted a song I made a while back on this board, so I thought I might try again. This one's called "The Id" and has been a work in progress for quite a long time, so I'm glad it's finally done with.

Free cookie to the person to guess the time signatures correctly. There's a bit of ambiguity to one of them, so don't feel bad if you can't. Anyway, download link below.

I can provide lyrics if required, but I highly doubt anybody will request them.

7/4 in the verse, 5/4 for a part of the chorus too lazy to work some sections out.

music sounds awesome man, but you should try and working on getting a stronger vocal, cause it would really make the track. kudos though

Yeah, I just couldn't get the vocal right for this track, for some reason. I didn't have any problem writing it, though, os I probably should've just used my trumpet for the vocal line. I just wanted it done, I may revisit it someday.

Yeah, you got the main 7/4, then it goes to 5/4, back to 7/4, I think. It switches to 4/4 just to get the drum pattern set up. Now, the next part works basically as 11/4 on top of a 2/4 (or 4/4, depending on how you look at it) drum pattern. The synth that's been doing the bass line for the song goes 5/4+6/4, and when the piano/harpsichord thing is doing 2/4+5/4+4/4 pattern. It might work better thinking of it as 7/4+4/4, or something, but the former is how I wrote it out. I had reasons, I just don't remember them. It was probably because of the rhythm. Finally, it goes back to 7/4 for the finish.

You win 1/2 cookie, cause you got the main parts. Good job, I certainly wouldn't have taken the time to guess that if I hadn't written it.

^ "os" should be "as", I think. I typed that pretty fast.
