Dude: How is John Lennon overrated? He was part of THE most influential band of the 20th century and wrote many of their most influential songs, including some lesser known ones like "Rain" and "She Said She Said". Although you may not agree with his political views, he was no doubt very influential in the peace movement. His solo career garnered much [well-deserved] attention and songs like "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance" are considered to be some of the greatest today.
How is that overrated?

The Beatles music was amazing, don't get me wrong. They deserve all the praise they get and more. But as a solo artist John Lennon, I think, wasn't quite all he was chalked up to be. I find a lot of his songs bland and not very interesting. As a peace activist, go him. Power to the people. I'm all for it.
