Guitar recommendations

Hey guys! Beginner here looking for guitar recommendations.
I've been learning for about a month on my sister's Fender Squier and I want to buy my own, decent beginner's guitar.
Any recommendations?  Also is it better if I learn on an acoustic?

I've found that acoustics are a little painful for my hand as I have to press down much harder on the strings and the neck seems thicker.  Is it the case with all acoustics or did I just use a crappy one (it was a $100 yamaha).
Someone told me I should buy a guitar that fits my hand rather than trying to make my hand fit the guitar...I've found that while a lot of people seem to be able to cover 4 frets with 4 fingers...I can't do the same...

Maybe you need lighter strings. I don't know about neck sizes. I have an ancient acoustic that won't stay in tune- not a good guitar to learn on. Now I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. It's about $200 if you get it in a set with an amp and gigbag. I'm sure the experienced guitarist will try to tell you it's cheap and of poor quality but I like it. I've had no problems with it at all. My dad who has a Fender and used to have a Gibson SG really likes my Les Paul a lot.

Fender is the brand that makes strats.
Squire makes cheap ones.
A Fender-Squire is not a guitar, it's just a Squire Strat.
Epiphone is the cheap version of Gibson.

The best guitar to learn on is one you like to play, so I've heard. I'm not really very good.
