Besides torrents. I'm looking for a few songs that I heard on pandora.com and I can't find them using my current p2p program (lime wire) and torrent searches of the artists turn up dry.
If anyone could recommend a better p2p proggie they've had luck with, it'd be greatly appreciated

snesmusic.org and zophar.net, if those two places don't have what I'm looking for, then it's yahoo or altavista to find it.

Why can't you use BT?
Try g2p.org
It uses google to download mp3s.

Whenever I can't find something on bittorrent (which is rare), I use either soulseek, IRC, or newsgroups.

i have never been able to dl music on soulseek. I'll use search and find a ton of whatever artist or song i want and will attempt to dl but it usually never starts or ends. I understand about ports. Everything is configured correctly, I just believe that soulseek is pretty shitty unless your using the chatrooms and browseuser parts to dl stuff.
gomusic.ru seems to be the only website with actual mp3s and no dead links. It costs money though and I'm not sure about the legality.

Limewire has been the best for me but uhh, try Piolet/blubster thats a whole different network.

Elbo.ws is a great site. it searches blogs for mp3s uploaded. You can usually find most songs at very decent bitrates (~192)

>>1 Soulseek. It's great for when you need really obscure music.

There's also a complicated way to 'hack' Pandora, so you can download the songs. It's floating around the internet someplace, too lazy to look it up, but it is possible. I've never gotten it to work properly in the past, but I know of people who have. It involves a little bit of command line work.
Anyway, isohunt searching for .torrents works for me. Never tried soulseek, and elbo.ws looks promising.
