GENRE?

Ok I'm fucking confused, here's an artist that makes pure crap (David Usher) out of every song he releases, which consist mostly of hoedowns and pathetic country songs. But there's one, and only one song that is actually good, in fact it's fucking great and its called Black black heart. It's fucking amazing, thing is the genre is a complete mystery, is it gothic? emo? hard rock? canadian? I'm completely stupified by the fact that a lifelong country singer suddenly composes such an awesome track out of nowhere.
