I'd say mine goes on 2 close-calls and one definite.
Close call 1: Taproot (Talentless hacks)
Close call 2: Creed (Do I even need to explain?)
DEFINITE WORST: My chemical romance. These goth-posers even tried to fucking cover David Bowie and Queens "Under Pressure". I wish I had gone to high school with these kids so I could've beat the shit out of them.
Holy crap, someone else who knows who The Shaggs were! I kind of like them, though...something about the innocence behind the horror. Then again, I can also listen to an entire Jandek album without going mental.
Personally, I'm amazed that it took until >>96 for anybody to mention ABBA, and even then it was only as a footnote.
As for the Green Day haters, you may hate them but they really do know how to write a catchy, solid pop tune (and have been able to do so going back to their indy days).

Although they do SUCK, I don't think Taproot got big ENOUGH to make them one of the WORST bands to happen to music EVER.
NICKELBACK,CREED,THEORIE OF A DEADMAN ......... THE LIST COULD GO ON FOREVER OF BANDS THAT LICK HARD, BUT NICKLEBACK IS THE WORST !
GOOD GOD WRITE A DIFFERENT SONG ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even God hates Creed (although if there was a God, and a just and merciful one at that, Creed, Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman wouldn't exist).

New Kids on the Block. Their sound was good but they started the boy band craze. Boy Bands reached the peak of stupidity with Hanson. MMbop was an okay song, but try living in Tulsa at the peak of their popularity.
The thing that sucks is that boy bands didn't die. They live on in psuedo-alternative shite like blink182 and [insert emo-because-its-cool band name here].

Bands dont kill music. Corporate bastards in the music industry do. Its because of them, they molded all of your tastes to suit their needs. Its because of them your all bickering about what band is killing music. They're the ones who hype bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam (and i like them too) hype 50 thousand other bands who sound exactly like them so you'll buy their next cd and not let other bands share the wealth because they're not the flavor of the month. Music is a beautiful merge of feeling and artistic expression with no matter of genre. It pisses me off to turn on the radio and hear another flavor of (band name here) by a new band thats supposed to be so original. Fucking corporate bastards.

New found glory, it's like a knife through the heart and then the guy teabagging you when your dead. Is that punk to listen to some winging high pitched jackass with the rock and roll attitude of a naive 5 year old, if that is, then I have no clue what the fuck punk is

Design the Skyline is the worst.
@142, how can you say NFG isn't punk? They're a huge part of the hardcore scene, their guitarist was an original member of Shai Hulud; and they are constantly playing shows with great hardcore bands. Hardcore/punk is more than music.

I would say Godsmack for being the biggest posers and not admitting it.
What I find so off-putting about Nickelback is the sheer amount of contrivance and pandering that imbues every song. It's dull-riffed, plodding, vaguely rootsy post-grunge hard rock without any distinction, spontaneity intelligence or nuance. Nickelback essentially filled the void left by the breakup of Creed, an equally worthless entity. Chad Kroeger is cast from the Eddie Vedder mold of singers who sound like they're trying to pass a really tough shit-log. They must think it sounds rootsy or smokey, but it just sounds constipated. The guitar work is dull, barre chord nonsense and the guitar leads -- such as they exist at all -- are washes of distortion and wah-wah masquerading as solos. It's truly pathetic on every level, and it only shows just how rock-ignorant America has become since the post-grunge fallout.
I don't single Nickelback out, mind you. ALL of these dull bands -- Hinder, Fuel, Shinedown, 12 Stones, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Smile Empty Soul, Puddle of Mudd, Switchfoot, etc -- are worthy of scorn.

What really separates a good band from the shit is practice.
Any band that has had over 10000 hours of practice, is good. I challenge anyone to find me an exception.
