I realized what I was doing and started to feel uncomfortable. Drive thru fast food. At one in the morning. In my pajamas. Alone. The epitome of what fat chicks ought not do.
And then a perverse smile creeped its way onto my face. I was doing the epitome of what fat chicks ought not do. For years Ive been dieting and apologizing for my fat body. Fuck that shit. Fuck constant, crushing vigilance over what I consume. Fuck apologizing for my very bodily existence. Fuck shame and self hatred.
I dont plan to do this on a regular basis, but what if I did? Are you worried about my health? Fuck you. Health is selectively employed as a polite way to control bodies and people. Must I remind you that the DSM used to classify homosexuality as a disease. Lets not even jump into the history of medical control over womens sexuality and bodies and the clusterfuck around HIV/AIDS. And if I die a day earlier because I ate some french fries, no one is going to know the difference. Are you worried that Im addicted to sugar? Fuck you. Im also addicted to water, air and human contact. Carbohydrates are literally the only way your brain gets energy. (Look up the Krebs cycle and protein and fat metabolism and then go fuck yourself.) Are you worried that Im going to get fat? Too late. And fuck you. I like being fat. So what are you worried about? Whats the big deal with me eating the food I want to eat when I want to eat it?
At 1 AM last night I went to get fast food. Greasy, salty, sweet fast food. French fries, jalapeno poppers, and a strawberry shake. It was delicious.
