Opera is so tiresome.

Even I, a formerly enthusiastic Opera user, must admit that this shit is getting old. At times, Opera seems to relish in being behind the times, as in the Opera dev team's refusal to hurry the fuck up and work with HTML5 already.

Other times, Opera seems to enjoy being more obnoxious than a dedicated 4chan tripfag spammer. It is impossible to do any sort of banking, as banks put images and non-essential data behind an AJAX call that is loaded every 5 seconds. Opera likes to javascript:alert() you every single time.

Another pointlessly annoying `security' feature is how Opera insist on telling you, every single time, that you are trying to load a userjs on an SSL enabled site. Damn it you stupid fuck, I get it already.

It all seems to have roots in Opera's identity crisis. Most users of Opera are somewhat familiar with tech and have been using Opera since memory consumption was a huge issue. As a company, they seem to dislike this image more than SciFi channel did. Rather than just call their users neckbeards like the re-branded Syfy channel did, Opera decided to copy all the other browsers in their quest to make the browser so simply a retarded toddler could use it. The result is a mix of simple interface with a powerful engine, that don't always work together.

The Opera userbase resist all these criticisms with a religious fervor. Their captivity is that of a mindbroken rape victim from a cliched hentai manga. Every argument for usability is met with the response `It's for your own good!'. You know what else is for my own good? A better fucking browser.

I can't say that I am done with Opera, but I can say that they are living in the past. Always quick to cry the invention of tabbed browsing and standards, they have long forgotten that their crappy little company in shitty Norway is far too tiny to ever force the web to change for them. Their insistence on petty bullshit is the precise reason that people waited for the other browsers to steal from them rather than use Opera.

Soon, I will abandoned this browser, returning from time to time to check what progress they have attempted. But I feel that the time of Opera has gone, and short of a cataclysmic series of firings, there is no hope for this collection of obnoxious crap on the desktop.
