what is a line with one missing point

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-11 3:22

So consider given y = 2x + 5 or any line, and that x is not permitted to be 8 (or whatever).  So there is a "hole" in the line.  It would be a line, but it is missing a single point.  But points are without size, without length.  What's going on on either side of the hole?  The two sides of the hole would be infinitely close to each other, yet not meet? WTF
