who should get the money in a swear jar

I work at a restaurant and if we swear we put a dollar in the jar. My boss keeps all the money. Shouldn't it go to charity or to the customers? Like give them $5 off their meal with the money in the swear jar to cover the discount?

Wow, the lack of employment/business experience already shown here is painful. Your boss is paying you to do a job. Paying you with his/her money. Part of a job can be maintaining a certain amount of professionalism or being warm and friendly because you work with customers, or really whatever bullshit the boss wants. If you're not doing part of your job, guess what? Your boss is free to penalize you. Why WOULDN'T the money go back to your boss if you aren't doing your job right? Stop being a fuck up.
