Christmas is supposedly suppose to mark the day of Jesus's birth, but where in the bible does it state that December 25
th is the date of his birth?
As for Thanksgiving, it's commercialized like all holidays. Also, it was about stuffing your face even more so back then since the Thanksgiving feats had a span of three days, if not more.
