Why is libertarianism so infallible?

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-06 15:35

It is due to it being the application of political science. It does not permit failed policies to be continued fruitlessly year after year with idealistic fervour, it is next to impossible for anyone surrounded by fierce libertarian critics to continue clinging on to lies. It is a purely functional machine, lubricated with justice and fuelled by free speech.

It is because you are naive.

Libertarians are hybrids with liberal foreign and social policy, mixed with conservative fiscal policy. It’s an error to believe Libertarians are conservative — if Libertarians emphasized foreign/social policy over fiscal policy, they’d fit right in with the most extreme far-left of the Democratic party. Libertarians are not conservative, and any attempt to appeal to them on a conservative basis is doomed to failure, simply because they’re not conservative, and don’t hold conservative values.

That’s the key to understanding Libertarians — they’re a mix of fiscal conservatives, social legalize-all-the-drugs liberals, and foreign policy isolationist anti-military anti-Israel liberals. As such, Libertarians are at home with either Democrats or Republicans, depending on what area they emphasize at the moment.

Conservatism, as H. Stuart Hughes declared, is the negation of ideology. Ideology is founded upon abstract ideas which possess no relation to reality, whereas conservatism is founded upon history, tradition, custom, convention, and prescription. As Russell Kirk put it, “[C]onservatism...is a state of mind, a type of character, a way of looking at civil social order. The attitude we call conservatism is sustained by a body of sentiments, rather than by a system of ideological dogmata.” The conservative puts his faith in the wisdom of his ancestors and the virtue of experience, rather than the abstract jargon of “sophisters, calculators, and economists.” He knows that there are no simple political formulas to solve all the world’s troubles.

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

Then, after spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, I drive back to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and the fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log onto the Internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right. This would be good, except freerepublic and Fox News aren't libertarian you fucking retard, which I can say without getting censored because the FCC doesn't regulate the internet.

Liberals and libertarians are both Satanic faggots who think they can do whatever they want and spit in God's face.

Authoritarianism is not a bad thing. Laws are designed to prevent idiots who cannot control themselves to corrode society.
