Answer me this /lounge/!

I still use my old K500i phone. It makes and receives calls just fine so that's why I've had it for 5 years now. But everyone keeps telling me it a "dinosaur phone" and that I should get an iPhone.

Now my question is: why should I spend so much money on a new phone when all I'll get is features that I don't need and will likely never use?

When I've said this to the kids who bug me about my old mobile they just give me blank stares back....

Pointless materialism and consumerism basically. I've got a friend that got the new droid phone, and sure it's nice and a luxury, but seriously, I have no need for such a phone. Plus I would never pay $600 (USD) on a god damn phone. All I do with my phone is simple voice, and I rarely text. Good enough for me.

My phone is a Sanyo Katana II, I've had it since 2007, and I'll probably have it for another three more years.

I own RIM stock but I don't own a cell (I hate being interrupted).  Keep buying those Blackberries.  I have no need of one myself.

It's the same for television too. Always advertising the latest hi def craze that dies out after a month. I still have a CRT from 1994 that I play my SNES on. Though I am enjoying looking at the LCD monitor I'm typing this on, mostly for its resolution, but the viewing angle sucks on it. Oh well.

New TVs have much improved picture quality compared to old ones but do news phones really sound that much better than ones that are only a few years older?

LCD TVs are better in two areas, one being the amount of space they free up, and two they're much better with overall illumination, but viewing angles are still horrible (even on high end ones) and you can never get perfect blacks on them.
