Sage is bad because it disturbs the order of threads, if people reply to a thread it should go up in the order so that other people actualy see that that a reply has been added, but if people sage you must check all threads for new replies.
Its funny, this i never really thought of it like that.
I sage threads alot, because mostly my replies have no weight, or atleast i think so.

I use "sage" in its more polite manner. In where if I make a reply and I feel it's not worth the bumping of the thread, then I use it. That's its original pupose anyway. It could also bring down from the top of the page a newly created thread.

In America we don't sage because we are independent, assertive and confident people. FUCK YOU ASSHOLE I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY SO I WILL BE HEARD ETC.
Japanese use sage because they are conformist and extremely self-conscious and don't want to stick out from the crowd.

Of course something to make note: We're all not like this. Some of us like to be a bit more inconspicuous about our posting. Mostly in the northern area of USA, New England, etc. Southerners are usually the more vocal, outspoken ones, though there are exceptions.
