The show DEA on Spike TV says the MDMA, also known as ecstasy, causes permanent issues with dopamine regulation and serotonin depletion.
They fail to mention this is only true because the DEA has driven prices to the point that it is cost effective to cut ecstasy with methamphetamine, amphetamine, and designer hallucinogens.

MDMA and methamphetamine are two different drugs. Go take some pure MDMA and see the difference. What OP means is that if MDMA was legal we would know it as ecstasy, one of the safest drugs ever created. Unfortunately because of prohibition ecstasy refers to a small amount of MDMA cut with far more dangerous drugs that are cheaper to manufacture.
