Is there anyone that is really homophobic?

I was reading a thread on another forum just now about some students that threw a private prom so two lesbians wouldn't be able to attend. The other forum called them a bunch of homophobes. Except, I'm convinced that there's no such thing. I mean, is anyone here really afraid of, for example, those trannies from the other forum? Is there anyone here that is or knows someone that truly is afraid of homosexuals? To me there's a fundamental difference between not liking a group of people and being afraid of the group.

The feeling you get that you want to hit a queer to "teach them a lesson" is an expression of insecurity. Basically, what you are telling me is, it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and swims like a duck, ...but what you are telling me is that it's not a duck.
